Sup everyone,
Sorry for adding you to a newsletter against your will, no hard feelings if ya unsubscribe. But as anyone who’s tried promoting their music/writing/etc in recent times can probably attest, it’s gotten increasingly difficult to direct people towards your stuff. Facebook has long been torpedoing posts that aren’t paid advertising, and Twitter has recently started burying posts that feature links. Instagram doesn’t even really let you post links. So I decided to try building a newsletter as an alternative to relying on these shitty apps. One Weird Trick is the label name I came up with for the first Miracle Sweepstakes album Turn Heel back in 2016, and earlier this year I started booking shows around NYC for both bands I’m in — MS and Hit — with the tag “a bill by One Weird Trick.”
This Thursday’s show at Berlin isn’t a bill by One Weird Trick, but it’s gonna be a good one. Hit is playing with Alejandro (mem. Personal Space), Dan Rico, and Nick Bazzano DJing. Hit has only put out a couple singles, so all our songs are technically new, but we’re planning on playing a New new one, as well as our next single “Nu Jangle,” which is slated to come out in February— as a very first Newsletter Exclusive, check out the single art below. Props if you recognize the singer. Anyways, address is 25 Avenue A in Manhattan, we’re on around 10. $15 at door, or you can get advance tix here.
On the Miracle Sweepstakes front, as some of you already know, we just put out a new album called Last Licks. It’s the first album we recorded and mixed entirely ourselves, and I’m really proud of it. It’s 47 minutes long, which used to be a pretty average album length but is now kind of on the long side, but I think it flows really well as a complete listen. And plus, the catchiest song is the closer. Look for more MS shows early in the new year, as well as at least one music video, and possibly some remixes. In the meantime, we got CDs and cassettes for sale, and there’s even a few hand painted t-shirts left (mostly mediums and larges I think?). Peep ‘em below and inquire within, FWIW they went in the wash after being on the floor.
Keep Poundin’,
Craig
