Sup everybody,
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, there will be a limited run of CD digipaks for Bestseller, and they just arrived in the mail Saturday. Check these bad boys out:
For now, they’ll only be available at the release show at Unruly Collective on October 25th, but I’ll figure out some sort of online shop that will go up sometime thereafter. Bandcamp only processes payments via PayPal, which I don’t have an active account for after multiple hacks. But if you’re in the NY area, come out to the show the 25th and you won’t have to worry about any of that!
Saturday was also the date of our show at the Pouch in Philly. By sheer coincidence, we played with Emerald, whose guitarist Brendan I went to college with. They were pretty sick and had this shrine that the singer would prostrate himself in front of, between pacing around and slamming himself into the ground:
The space had a hard curfew of 11 PM and, with six bands on the bill, was running a little up against it by the time we were up, so we had to speedrun a quick four song set. But that actually made things better, which is the beauty of lowered expectations— for a fleeting moment I thought we’d be cut for time, so anything after that was gravy. As it would happen, people seemed into us, and we even moved a couple pre-release units!
On the way down, Cameron mentioned that the one time he’d seen a car on fire was in Philly, and it would be cool to see another. In a stroke of grim serendipity, we passed an SUV engulfed in flames on the ride back. Here’s Cameron’s artistic cell phone pic of it:
And here’s a video Charles got of it:
One Weird Trick sends our thoughts to the driver and any passengers, and we sincerely hope no one was hurt. If that happened to the minivan my mom would KILL me! But it did remind me of Holy Shit Piss, the greatest YouTube video of all time:
Keep Burnin’,
Craig
I respect switching it up, but I prefer to be pounded at the end
