March 22: Miracle Sweepstakes "Bad Bee" video release

Plus another look behind the curtain at how a music video is really made...

Thanks again to all who came out to the Hit video release last month. And if you’re an Apple Music user, “Nu Jangle” is finally available to stream on there. HBO’s John Wilson was apparently at the show and left either before or during our set. This month, Miracle Sweepstakes has a video release show as well, March 22nd at Sleepwalk (251 Bushwick Ave, you can get advance tix HERE). Who knows which niche celeb will walk out on us this time?

It’s a stacked bill with Birthday Ass and Porkseed: the Negotiator (fka Hound Pound, feat. members of Plum Dumpster). Another earlyish show, 7 PM doors and wraps up by 10. Tru Subscribers will remember from a few newsletters ago that the video we’re releasing is for “Bad Bee,” track six off of Last Licks. If ya go back in the archives there’s a sneak preview of the video, which stars Ben Bar as the titular bee, drinking, smoking, gambling and doing other bad things. There’s also a clip in the second slide of our most recent Instagram post.

I joked about the 33-email-long thread we had to pare this vid down from its original Too Hot for TV cut. To kind of pull back the veil a bit on that process, here are some choice excerpts from the thread:

Hope to see you at the show, we’re probably going to play at least one new song, if not two. And if you’re in Ridgewood this Friday (3/8), Ian, Doug and I are backing two-time One Weird Trick bill veteran Jeremy Good Job live at the Windjammer (flyer/info here).
