Sup everybody,
The next 1WT show is Hit at Alphaville (140 Wilson Ave, Bushwick) on January 23rd, only ten days away. It’s a stacked bill featuring Grinning, Rose House and Vanessa Castro DJing. This is my first time playing Alphaville since Miracle Sweepstakes played there almost seven years ago, which means that at the rate we’re going, I won’t play there again until 2032!! You can get tix here.

At our last show at OWL we played mostly new material, including this song “Serrated Sunshine,” which we debuted last summer and hadn’t played since:
We also debuted another one called “Twisty,” which we actually didn’t fully hash out the arrangement for until a couple hours before our set. It’s still obviously pretty raw— if you watch, you can see the moment where I realized I put my slide on the wrong finger and couldn’t play that cowboy riff right. But as any pro will tell ya, you gotta work the flub into the part:
You can hear the vocal effect feed back a bit over the instrumental sections. When we were setting up, every time I turned on the vocal pedal it caused a blast of harsh feedback. I quickly tweaked some things, triggered the FX again and had it sounding pretty good, which prompted the sound guy to come up and say, “brother, I listened to you guys online and it sounded like surf rock. Are you sure you’re trying to play surf rock with this?” to which I replied, “no.” But after the set he came up and was like, “I didn’t realize you guys were going for those crazy old school psychedelic sounds. Good job, brother” and dabbed me adieu.
We’ll likely debut another new one at Alphaville, so your attendance is strongly encouraged…
Keep Poundin’,
Craig
