Sup everybody,
This past weekend Miracle Sweepstakes played back-to-back shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan, which might’ve been the first time we’ve played shows on consecutive nights in NY ever. The first was the “Bad Bee” video release at Sleepwalk with great sets from Birthday Ass (who I’d never seen before and was blown away by) and Porkseed: the Negotiator (whose song about a “craven worm” has been swimming in my mind since we played with them last year).
A Birthday Ass clip by Annie:
Unfortunately, do to a tech miscommunication with the venue, we weren’t able to play the video before our set. And since we were planning on screening “Bad Bee” in lieu of performing “Bad Bee,” the song wound up not being played at its own release show. Sorry to those who were disappointed by this, we were bummed too. But I take solace in the fact that it’s at least a funny move. And you can still watch the vid here:
We did play a new song, “Lambchop,” which I shared a very lo-fi rehearsal demo of in the last newsletter. Here it is in its brief entirety, courtesy of Justin from Porkseed:
It’s rare to get the full song live phone clip, so thanks to Justin for also getting pretty much all of the longest song in the set, “Green Candle”:
All in all we had fun. Supposedly Dril from Twitter hearted a clip of “Let Something Happen” on IG, not that we would know as prisoners of their oppressive Community Guidelines…

All This Way to Come Back Now
We basically ran it back the next night at Gambit Works in Times Square, the only change being that we swapped “Let Something Happen” and “How True” to break up the two slow songs. Apparently a small crowd of passersby stopped to gawk at us through the glass during our set, though when I was outside during Fruit Dawg’s soundcheck, the sound was pretty muffled, so they probably couldn’t really hear our music. I thought we played pretty well though, Annie got some clips of the new songs.
“Lambchop” (eh again why not):
“Axeman’s Delight”:
After us was EaterLife, who have to be the most RATM-esque band we’ve ever played with. I got this clip below. At the beginning of the night, the wine table was being tended by what I’m guessing was the gallery staff, similar to an art reception. At the end of EaterLife’s set, I looked over and concertgoers were behind the unmanned table, pouring their own drinks to the brim. A true demonstration of the transformative power of music.
